Executive Director

Greenpeace USA (comprised of two independent organizations, Greenpeace Inc. and Greenpeace Fund; see http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/) seeks a proven, passionate and dynamic leader who reflects our values and is passionate about our mission. Greenpeace USA runs effective, independent, campaigns that use creative, non-violent direct action, among other tactics, to confront global environmental challenges and build an effective national and international movement to respond to those challenges. We are one of 28 national offices affiliated with Greenpeace International (GPI), whose primary aim is to protect the planet’s environment through effective and inspirational global campaigns.

Greenpeace USA’s new Executive Director will inherit a well-managed, vibrant and dynamic $30 million organization. John Passacantando, the current executive director has announced that he will leave Greenpeace after eight successful years of rebuilding, repositioning, and strengthening our presence in the United States. The Board is sorry to see Passacantando go, but he leaves the organization poised for even greater accomplishments in the future.

To meet this goal, the Board seeks a creative, independent, bold and strategic leader that can maintain and enhance our effectiveness in the current rapidly changing environment. The Board has retained Isaacson, Miller, Inc. (http://www.imsearch.com/) a leading executive search firm, to assist us in identifying a committed person for this important leadership position.
