How will the project be implemented?

The two E-Jeepneys used in the launch are actually part of a fleet of 6 units which will undergo technical and commercial tests from 6 to 9 months. The tests will determine the technical and commercial feasibility of the E-Jeepneys as a component of the project.

The fleet will be increased to 50 units upon the successful conclusion of the test phase.

During the test period, GRIPP will undertake the design and complete the financial package for the power plant that will consist of a gas engine and high-solid anaerobic digester that will serve as a charging station for the jeepneys. GRIPP is working with the local government of the pilot areas to secure all necessary counterparts which demonstrate the city’s strong sense of ownership for the project.

With the introduction of the clean energy technologies, an information-education campaign will be built around the benefits of the project, namely, cleaner and safer transport for the riding public, increased incomes to the drivers, and a cleaner urban environment for all—while contributing to the mitigation of climate change.
