Montréal, Canada — Three Greenpeace activists continue chain themselves to the front doors of AbitibiBowater headquarters after almost 24 hours. AbitibiBowater is the largest logging company in Canada. The activists took over the company’s front entrance to protest the ongoing destruction of some of the last remaining intact Boreal forest.

This act of civil disobedience is part of the ongoing campaign led by Greenpeace to transform the logging practices in the Boreal Forests of Quebec and Ontario, launched over one year ago. Greenpeace is trying to bring an end to the destruction in the Boreal Forest as intact forests in particular play an essential role in maintaining biodiversity, mitigating global climate change and protecting threatened and endangered species such as the woodland caribou.
