The Western and Central Pacific Ocean is one of the last remaining relatively healthy fisheries in the world but it is still under threat. Scientists warn that current fishing levels for bigeye and yellowfin tuna are unsustainable, yet no reduction in fishing effort is occurring.
Due to overfishing, pollution, climate change and habitat destruction, the health of our oceans is declining.
To stop this we need to create marine reserves, which means setting aside protected areas where all harmful activities like fishing, mining, dumping and oil drilling are banned.
