Around the globe, some 3.5 million fishing boats compete for dwindling fish stocks. According to the United Nations, 76 per cent of the world's fisheries are fully exploited, overexploited or depleted.
Governments must take urgent action to protect the species that remain, with a global network of marine reserves.
